Local Intelligence is based in Twello, the Netherlands and is active both on a local and European level. This organisation bring the aspects of organisational innovation into the public realm and vise versa. It is an independent business that is constantly looking to reinvent itself through touching the fields of social business, business innovation, social innovation and community participation. I Bas Kools have founded Local intelligence as a creative organisation with a main interest in the systems, situations, and services people find themselves in with a focus on finding out how we can design new ways of living and working together. Through experience in projects around the topics of public space, education, game development, public policy making, and business innovation, it has become the designer of communities. Local intelligence stand for designers with the ability to redefine the relations between situations, systems, objects, materials and services in our society.
Through action research and participatory processes I create a response to what I see, hear and feel. I offer solutions, alternatives and sometimes even provoke interactions with a comment. Altogether I activate the local intelligence for a community to innovate itself, in rural areas, organisations, parts of a cities, virtual communities or other formal or non-formal groups of people. I inspire projects and strategies where groups, organisations and communities start to work together to tackle problems and situations they find them selves in, to activate local leadership with a creative and positive attitude.
My way of working is based on working with local intelligence as a strategy and commitment to engage and to innovate and a believe that creativity and innovation are things that are present already. What I do is to enable individuals and groups to discover their qualities and use this to build self motivated innovations. To create ownerships and sustainable impact.
